The Open-rod Cast Iron Copper-Enamel Square Gate is a hydraulic control device engineered by our company for regulating water flow and maintaining water levels in rectangular channels or canals. Featuring an integral cast iron structure with copper alloy inserts at critical sealing points, this gate incorporates an open-rod transmission mechanism to deliver a reliable flow control solution for water supply/drainage systems, hydraulic engineering projects, and wastewater treatment facilities. It is particularly suitable for fluid control applications at rectangular cross-sections such as pumping stations, reservoirs, and culverts.

  • Structure and Working Principle
  1. Core structural composition

This gate is a complete set of equipment, mainly composed of the following parts:

  • Frame and gate: Constructed as a monolithic unit from premium gray cast iron (HT200/250) or ductile iron (QT450), this robust structure provides the essential load-bearing capacity for hydraulic pressure.
  • Guideway and wedge assembly: The symmetrical left-right guide rails ensure linear motion of the gate. The innovative adjustable wedge clamping mechanism compensates for long-term operational wear, maintaining consistent tight contact between sealing surfaces.
  • Copper alloy sealing surface: High-grade copper alloy strips (e.g., ZCuSn5Pb5Zn5) are precision-molded and machined at the sealing contact interface between the gate plate and door frame. This is the core component for achieving superior sealing and corrosion resistance performance.
  • The open-close screw (operating screw) is manufactured from high-quality carbon steel with anti-corrosion surface treatment. It connects the hoist at the top and the gate at the bottom, serving as the core component for power transmission.
  1. Working Principle

The gate operates in coordination with its auxiliary hoist (manual, electric, or dual-purpose). When the hoist is activated, its output shaft drives the open lever to rotate. Through the screw-nut transmission mechanism, this rotational motion is converted into vertical movement of the gate panel along the door frame guide rails. This precise control enables full opening/closing of the orifice or fine-tuning to any intermediate position, thereby regulating flow through the opening.
