The Open-rod Cast Iron Copper-Clad Round Gate is a pipeline and channel system control device designed by our company for water flow interruption and level regulation. Featuring an integral cast iron structure with copper alloy cladding at critical sealing points, this gate incorporates a unique open-rod transmission mechanism to ensure reliable sealing and intuitive operation. Primarily used in municipal water supply/drainage systems, hydraulic engineering projects, wastewater treatment plants, and industrial water systems, it effectively controls fluid flow through circular pipelines or openings.

  • Structure and Working Principle
  1. Core structural composition

This gate is a complete set of equipment, mainly including:

  • Valve body and gate: Constructed as a monolithic casting from premium gray cast iron (HT200 or higher grade) or ductile cast iron (QT450), featuring robust structural integrity to withstand both internal pipeline pressure and external loads.
  • Guiding rails and sealing seat: The valve body incorporates precision guiding rails to ensure the gate's linear motion is centered. A precision-machined copper alloy sealing ring is embedded on the annular sealing surface where the gate contacts the valve body.
  • The valve stem is fabricated from high-grade stainless steel (e.g., 2Cr13) or carbon steel with surface anti-corrosion treatment. Its upper end connects to the actuation mechanism, while the lower end is fixed to the gate plate, transmitting the actuation torque and withstanding axial forces.
  • The drive unit's connection section features a standard flange or bracket at the top, compatible with manual, electric, or dual-purpose (manual-electric) hoists.
  1. Working Principle

The gate operates in coordination with its associated hoisting mechanism. When the hoisting mechanism is activated, the drive unit rotates the open lever. Through threaded transmission, this rotational motion is converted into vertical movement of the gate plate along the valve body's guide rails. When the gate plate descends to the sealing seat at the bottom of the valve body, the pipeline is completely sealed. Conversely, lifting the gate plate opens the passage, and by controlling the lifting height, the flow rate can be adjusted continuously.

  1. Sealing structure: The metal hard seal is embedded with copper alloy, and the sealing surface is wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant, demonstrating excellent sealing performance in clear water.
  2. Visibility of the exposed stem structure: During the opening and closing process, the valve stem is exposed and moves vertically, providing a clear and intuitive view of the gate's opening status, which facilitates operators' observation and judgment.
  3. Structural robustness: The cast iron main structure exhibits excellent pressure-bearing capacity and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for various aquatic environments.
  4. Bidirectional pressure resistance capability: The symmetrical flow channels and sealing design enable the system to maintain airtight closure under both forward and reverse water pressure (depending on the design pressure).
  5. Maintenance convenience: The main transmission components are located outside the valve body, facilitating routine inspection, lubrication, and maintenance.
