The flocculation mixer is a mixing and reaction device designed and manufactured by our company for water and wastewater treatment processes. Primarily used in the post-treatment phase after flocculants (e.g., PAC, PAM) or coagulants are added, it provides controlled stirring conditions to facilitate thorough contact between chemicals and suspended particles in water, promote destabilization, and enable the formation and growth of flocs (floc formation). This process creates optimal conditions for subsequent solid-liquid separation steps such as sedimentation, clarification, or filtration.

  • Structure and Working Principle
  1. Core structural composition

The device is mainly composed of the following parts:

  • The driving device: the motor and the reducer are located at the top, which is the power source of the equipment.
  • Drive shaft: Connects the drive unit to the underwater impeller to transmit torque. The shaft system can be configured as a single-section long shaft or a multi-section shaft with intermediate bearings, depending on the pool depth, typically made of stainless steel.
  • Stirring impeller: The core working component that directly generates hydraulic flow patterns. Depending on the process stage, various types such as paddle-type, turbine-type, and propeller-type can be selected.
  • Mounting bracket: For securing the device to the pool top or work platform.
  1. Working Principle

The motor drives the transmission shaft and impeller through a reducer to rotate in water. The impeller's rotation performs work on the water, creating a specific flow field:

  • Rapid mixing phase: Near the dosing point, high-speed stirring is applied to generate intense turbulence within a short time, aiming to achieve rapid and uniform dispersion of the drug and water.
  • Slow flocculation stage: In the subsequent reaction tank, gentle but extensive fluid motion is generated through low-speed stirring, which provides suitable collision and aggregation conditions for destabilized micro-particles, enabling them to gradually combine into larger and denser flocs.
