Core technical characteristics of urban sewage treatment equipment

  • Release time: 2025-11-05

Modern urban sewage treatment equipment has moved away from the traditional "extensive" treatment mode and is developing towards high efficiency, intelligence, and energy conservation. Its core technical characteristics are reflected in the following aspects: - Efficiency: Through the application of new technologies such as membrane separation and advanced oxidation, the removal efficiency of pollutants by equipment has been significantly improved. For example, the MBR equipment can achieve a removal rate of over 95% for COD (chemical oxygen demand), with effluent SS (suspended solids) close to zero; the ozone-biological activated carbon combined equipment can effectively remove trace amounts of persistent organic pollutants, meeting the demand for high-quality water. - Intelligentization: Relying on the Internet of Things, big data, and automation control technology, equipment achieves real-time monitoring and precise regulation of operating status. For example, by collecting data through online water quality monitors (COD meters, ammonia nitrogen meters, etc.), the control system automatically adjusts aeration intensity, chemical dosage, and sludge return flow, which not only reduces labor costs but also avoids fluctuations in treatment efficiency caused by human operational errors. Some smart wastewater treatment plants have achieved "unattended operation and remote control". - Energy Efficiency: Addressing the issue of high energy consumption in traditional equipment, new equipment achieves reduced energy consumption by optimizing structural design and utilizing energy-saving components. For instance, low-energy aeration equipment, such as jet aerators, can reduce fan operating power. The biogas generated from sludge anaerobic digestion is used for power generation, achieving energy self-sufficiency. In some wastewater treatment plants, the biogas generated can meet 30%-50% of their energy consumption needs, realizing an "energy cycle". - Modularity: In response to the needs of small and medium-sized towns or decentralized sewage treatment, modular sewage treatment equipment has emerged. The equipment adopts a prefabricated module design, allowing for flexible combination according to the treatment scale. It has a short installation period (usually 1-3 months), requires a small footprint, and eliminates the need for large-scale civil engineering, significantly reducing construction costs and time costs. Examples include integrated MBR equipment and buried sewage treatment equipment.
