The gantry-type sludge scraper is a sludge discharge equipment manufactured by our company, designed for rectangular or square sedimentation tanks, coagulation sedimentation tanks, and clarifiers. This equipment features a mobile gantry structure that moves back and forth along tracks on the tank roof, driving the scraper plate or suction pipe below to collect, clean, or siphon out the sludge from the tank bottom.
It is flexible and can be customized according to the length of the tank, especially suitable for long and large-span horizontal flow sedimentation tank. It is one of the common choices for automatic sludge discharge in rectangular tank in water treatment, sewage treatment and industrial wastewater treatment.
- Structure and Working Principle
- Core structural composition
The main body of the equipment is a mobile steel structure truss vehicle, which mainly includes the following parts:
- The walking mechanism, located at both ends of the gantry crane, drives the entire machine to reciprocate along the track laid across the pool roof. It typically consists of a drive motor, reducer, driving wheel, driven wheel, and stroke limit device.
- The main girder (truss) serves as the primary load-bearing structure connecting the two end beams. Typically constructed with welded steel sections in truss or box girder configurations, it provides excellent stiffness and torsional resistance.
- Sludge removal (or sludge suction) system:
- The mud scraper model: The mud scraper is hung at the bottom of the main beam, which can be designed as a downward scraping and upward sludge removal unidirectional working mode, or a bidirectional working mode.
- Mud suction type: A siphon or pump suction mud suction pipeline system is suspended at the bottom of the main beam, with a series of suction ports at the bottom of the pipeline.
- Track and power supply: heavy steel rails laid on both sides of the pool roof, and safety sliding contact wires or cable reels to power the mobile equipment.
- Electrical control system: The control box integrated into the gantry crane enables automatic/manual control, travel limit, and linkage with sludge discharge valve.
- Working Principle
The equipment operates automatically according to the preset program. A typical work cycle is as follows:
- Operational sequence: The gantry truck departs from the pool's starting end (initiation point) and proceeds toward the terminal end (destination). During movement, the scraper directs sediment from the pool floor to the collection hopper at the end (unidirectional scraping), or employs a suction pipe system to collect and discharge sludge via siphon or pump.
- Return procedure: Upon arrival at the terminal, the equipment pauses. The scraper or suction pipe can be lifted via the lifting mechanism (to prevent sludge backflow), after which the gantry crane returns to the starting point either rapidly or at a steady pace.
- Cyclic operation: After the equipment returns to the starting point, the scraper or suction pipe descends to the working position, initiating the next cycle. The entire process can be controlled by timed or continuous automation.
- Ideal for rectangular and square flow-through tanks, this design effectively addresses sludge discharge issues along the length of such tanks.
- Adjustable working mode: The walking speed and working cycle can be adjusted according to the actual sludge sedimentation volume. Different settings for sludge scraping and return speed can enhance efficiency.
- The structure is relatively independent, with clear requirements for civil engineering: the equipment is an independently operating mobile structure, with the main load acting on the track foundations on both sides of the pool roof, and the structural correlation with the middle part of the pool is relatively low.
- Maintenance access: The main beam of the truss can also serve as an inspection passage for the pool surface, facilitating the examination and maintenance of the facilities inside.
- High adaptability: The span of the gantry truck can be customized according to the pool width, and the travel distance can be adjusted based on the pool length. Depending on water quality and process requirements, the mud scraping or suction mode can be flexibly selected.
